Washington, D.C.-U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) issued the following statement regarding the need for a bipartisan government funding measure:

"The House-authored legislation prevents a government shutdown, provides the longest authorization in the history of the Children's Health Insurance Program, and stops a punitive tax from harming jobs and innovation in Pennsylvania's dynamic medical device industry.

"The agreement is far from perfect, as I believe Congress should end short-term funding patches, improve the financial integrity of CHIP, and repeal the medical device tax in its entirety. However, I hope my Democrat colleagues will join us in passing this measure to end the immediate uncertainty surrounding these issues as lawmakers continue to hash out a broader agreement on the budget and immigration."
