Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released the following statement on the death of Latrobe, Pennsylvania native, Arnold Palmer.
"Arnold Palmer represents the best of Pennsylvania. While "The King" is famous for his golf career, he is renowned for his generosity, kindness, and commitment to his community. His roots in Western Pennsylvania run deep, calling Latrobe home his entire life. Arnold once said "your hometown is not where you're from - it's who you are." He lived by that motto every day, and his passing is a heartbreaking loss for Pennsylvania. Kris and I offer our deepest condolences to Arnold's family."
Arnold Palmer was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on September 12, 2012. You can watch Sen. Toomey's remarks at the award ceremony here.
