Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released the following statement after opposing the temporary increase in the debt ceiling.
“Tonight, the Democrats voted to saddle the American taxpayers with an additional $480 billion in debt—even though this will only stave off another debt ceiling increase until early next year. Democrats, with narrow control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, have decided to go on an unprecedented, dangerous spending and tax-hiking spree that will drag down our economy and require even more debt in the future.”
