Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today announced that the Heartland Fabrication, LLC in Brownsville, Pennsylvania has been awarded a $982,954 grant through the Maritime Administration (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant Program. Senator Toomey wrote a letter supporting the grant application.
“Heartland Fabrication plays a vital role in supporting the inland waterways transportation system in Fayette County,” said Senator Toomey. “I was glad to support the application by Heartland Fabrication and am confident these funds will support their mission to create new career opportunities for robotic welding technicians.”
The awarded funds will be used to support the resumption of a comprehensive 3-year apprentice training program to strengthen its workforce and increase the efficiency of shipbuilding operations.
