Washington, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) proudly announced the appointments of two Washington County students to United States service academies.

Spencer Kane, son of Timothy and Carrie Kane, attends Chartiers-Houston Jr. and Sr. High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society. Kane is also a member of the golf, soccer, and track and field teams. He accepted his offer of appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Dylan Poirer, son of Adam and Heather Poirer, attends Burgettstown Area High School where he plays football and basketball. He is also a student ambassador. He accepted his offer of appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

"Nominating students to the service academies is one of the greatest honors of my office," said Senator Toomey. "I am proud to announce the appointments of Spencer Kane and Dylan Poirer. These exceptional students underwent a very competitive nomination process and demonstrated that they possess the necessary qualities to be successful at our U.S. service academies. I wish Spencer and Dylan the best with all of their future endeavors."
