Washington, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) proudly announced the appointments of three Montgomery County students to United States service academies.

Avinash Ganguly, son of Atul and Sanjana Ganguly, attends Renaissance Academy Charter School where he runs cross-country and plays baseball and soccer. He is also a member of student government. Ganguly accepted his offer of appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Jason Aoyama, son of Takekazu and Dana Aoyama, attends Harriton High School where he plays soccer. He accepted his offer of appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Thomas Magiera, son of Kevin and Kathleen Magiera, attends Saint Joseph's Preparatory High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society and student council. He runs track and field and plays soccer. He accepted his offer of appointment to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

"Nominating students to the service academies is one of the greatest honors of my office," said Senator Toomey. "I am proud to announce the appointments of Avinash Ganguly, Jason Aoyama, and Thomas Magiera. These exceptional students underwent a very competitive nomination process and demonstrated that they possess the necessary qualities to be successful at our U.S. service academies.
