Toomey Statement on U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released the following statement on the United States and Japan's agreement on trade:
"The United States and Japan trade agreements announced by USTR Robert Lighthizer are very encouraging. In particular, I appreciate the Trump administration's work to reduce import tariffs, update digital trade rules, and to break down agricultural trade barriers that have hindered American farmers' access to the Japanese market. It is also my assumption that these agreements will end any threat of new tariffs on automobiles imported from Japan. I hope this development eventually leads to a robust and permanent Free Trade Agreement with one of our closest allies."
