Senator Toomey Statement on Fentanyl Crack Down Commitment from China

December 4, 2018

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) issued the following statement after President Trump secured an initial commitment from Chinese President Xi Jinping to further assist in the fight against illicit fentanyl and fentanyl-like drugs:

"Far too many Americans are dying from heroin that has been laced with Chinese fentanyl. I applaud the president for securing an initial commitment from China to crack down on the production of all fentanyl-like drugs. Congress should strengthen the administration's hand in this effort by passing my bipartisan Blocking Deadly Fentanyl Imports Act, which punishes countries that fail to implement and enforce internal controls on fentanyl production."
