The Growing Threat on the Korean Peninsula

I don't think anybody questions how grave a threat North Korea poses to the United States and our allies. The regime's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs have accelerated at a frightening pace, putting American cities within range of a North Korean ICBM.
Despite sanctions that the United States, our allies, and the United Nations have imposed on the North Korean government, reports indicate that the North Korean economy grew this past year at its fastest pace in nearly two decades.
This week during a Senate Banking Committee hearing, I called on Treasury Department officials to take tougher steps. My bipartisan BRINK Act would impose the toughest possible sanctions, cutting off from the US financial system any foreign bank doing business with North Korea.
